While submitting a question to Dear Ms. Smartphone, you are asked on the Google form to provide a small amount of personally identifiable information. like your name and email address. We ask for this information so that we can respond to your questions appropriately, and know you are a real person and you are not spamming the site. If you request, we will use a pseudonym (a pen name) to guard your identity. When you submit a question, the question is logged into a secure spreadsheet. It may be shortened or rewritten for legibility or space.
When visitors leave comments on the site a Google form collects the visitor’s IP address and browser-user -agent- string . This is necessary for spam detection.

The site continues under development so at this point we do not use your personal information to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials. If you choose to provide your email, we can notify you of new posts. We are in the process of switching the plugin that collects email addresses and provides email notifications to subscribers.
